Classroom Update
Math - Our focus this week was on measurement. We choose a variety of items in the classroom and hallway to measure using millimetres, centimetres, and metres. We also continued to work on ordering fractions.
Home Practise: Students can work on multiplication and division facts to increase speed and accuracy. They are encouraged to quickly review some that they already know and spend more time with facts they find more challenging.
Language Arts - During word work this week, we focused on words with the prefix "mis". In words like misunderstand, misbehave and mislead the "mis" prefix changes the meaning of the root word. For the book Ollie's Odyssey, we designed a Junkyard Friend and continued created storymaps of Ollie or Billy's "odyssey".
Science and Social Studies - We started working with the robots this week. We learned how to use programs on the ipads to code instructions that are sent to the robots. The robots then move, make sounds, flash lights based on our programming. Next week, we focus on programming the robot to travel on a map of Alberta (a map taped on the floor in the hallway).
