Friday, June 12

ALL LIBRARY BOOKS ARE NOW DUE!  PLEASE RETURN THEM AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. THANK YOU!

Classroom Update

Math -  We continued transforming shapes this week.  We worked on all three - translations, rotations and reflections.  We also continued to solve word problems and work on telling time by the 24 hour clock.

Language Arts - We finished our haikus this week.  We also started working on a "literacy choice board".  There are 12 different literacy activities that students can choose from.

Science - Our focus this week turned to how creative we can be.  Students are designing hybrid animals / plants that have interesting adaptations that help them survive.  We already have some interesting combinations starting to emerge!

Social Studies - This week, we continued to read our story about pioneers.  One of the things they talked about in the book was how they made biscuits.  We made biscuits with our guest Mrs. Reid and were able to enjoy eating them with margarine and jam.  We also started building our own community.  We have to make choices about what kinds of services are most important and how we want the community to be designed.
